Gibault Joint for Steel is a mechanical pipe connection solution designed for high flexibility, quick installation, and easy disassembly. With its gasket and bolt system, this fitting is ideal for repair projects, material transition installations, and connections in locations difficult to reach with welding. While more expensive, its advantages in speed and ease of operation are invaluable in industrial and municipal applications.
Gibault Joint Structure and Components
1. Main Body
Made of ductile iron or carbon steel coated with epoxy.
Functions as a retaining shell and pipe clamp.
2. End Rings / End Flanges
Pressure rings that push the gasket to grip the pipe.
Tightened with bolts to the main body.
3. Rubber Gasket
Usually made of EPDM or NBR rubber.
Seals the joint to prevent leaks.
Compensates for slight pipe displacement (expansion/contraction).
4. Bolts and Nuts
Used to tighten the end rings so the gasket presses evenly against the pipe.
5. Protective Layer
Epoxy/fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) coating on metal parts to prevent corrosion.
