1. Understanding Welded Tees
A welded tee is a "T"-shaped pipe connection component used in piping systems to divide or combine fluid flow. The term "welded" refers to the method of connecting the tee to the pipe using welding techniques, rather than threads or flanges.
2. Types of Welded Tees
A. Based on branch size:
- Equal Tee (Same Size Tee)
All sides (both ends of the main pipe and the branch) have the same diameter.
- Reducing Tee (Different Size Tee)
The branch diameter is smaller than the main pipe and is used to accommodate different pipe sizes.
B. Based on connection method:
- Butt Weld Tee
Welding is performed on the flattened pipe end surfaces and directly connected.
- Socket Weld Tee
The branch and pipe end are partially inserted into the socket before welding (smaller and commonly used on small pipes).
